Tetrathlon is a unique Pony Club competition that combines four disciplines:
It’s a demanding but rewarding sport that develops horsemanship, athletic ability, and sportsmanship, while encouraging members to test themselves in new ways.
Tetrathlon is inspired by the Olympic Modern Pentathlon, introduced in 1912 and based on the legendary challenges of a King’s Messenger: galloping on horseback, fighting with a sword, swimming across a river, and running to deliver a message. Pony Club adapted the sport in 1969 (without fencing), and it became a national program in Canada in 1975. Today, it’s enjoyed by hundreds of members across the country at the Club, Regional, National, and International levels.
