The minimum age to join Pony Club is 6 years old, and members can stay active until age 25. After that, you can continue as a Horse Master (new members over 21 join directly as Horse Masters).
All members of Boundary Bay Pony Club must also join:
Pony Club is more than just riding—it’s an equine education program that teaches everything about horse care, stable management, and riding disciplines such as show jumping, dressage, rally, and tetrathlon. Members gain lifelong friendships, leadership skills, and connections with horse lovers across the province and region.
Note: Boundary Bay Pony Club does not provide horses or riding lessons. To take part in mounted activities, members must bring, lease, or borrow a horse or pony.
Boundary Bay Pony Club is a volunteer-run organization with no government funding. Our programs are made possible through member fees, fundraising, and, most importantly, parent involvement.
Every family is asked to contribute a minimum of 20 volunteer hours per year. Volunteering might include helping at fundraisers, supporting events, or serving on a committee—whatever best matches your skills and schedule.
These hours are essential for keeping our club affordable and vibrant. Volunteering not only supports your child’s equine education, it also connects you with other families, regional activities, and resources in the Pony Club community.
Includes national fee, regional fee and branch fee plus new members will receive a BBPC polo shirt.*
You are required to have both a 2025 and 2026 HCBC Membership. If you do not have a current HCBC membership, a combined rate is available which includes prorated rates for the current year (Sept 5-Dec 31 2025) and all of 2026.
*In addition to our local Branch Fees, fees include a base national fee ($110) and a regional fee ($65) which cover administration costs, your riding passport and welcome package, and contributes toward our ability to offer national competitions, scholarships, and other functions necessary to the running of our programs.
All members must hold a current Horse Council BC (HCBC) membership (required for CPC insurance).
HCBC proof is collected automatically through HorseReg. Please ensure you have a screenshot of your HCBC card ready to upload.
Create an account on Horse Reg (new members) and register and pay fees online.

These fees are estimates and are subject to change year to year.
Participation fee is approx. $60 and each member is required to provide a parent volunteer for the full day. This is where you get to test all your new horse knowledge!
Options and pricing vary year to year.
Every member who participates in a PPG Games Day (there are 4 total) is required to pay a fee of $30/pp each day (2022/23 rate). You do not have to participate in all 4. This is suggested for those who have their own horses, or who have access to a horse they can lease or borrow.
If we are able to secure horses for members without access to horses to use the cost is $150/member per games day. The Club tries to secure ponies for use at practices so that as many members can try out this sport. The costs for these horses is borne by the club as part of the base membership dues. Please note that we are not always able to secure ponies. Practices may be divided and ponies will be shared.
This 1 night, 2 day event held in the spring is an opportunity to learn how to take care of a pony full time. There are activities and games and food/snacks provided. Parent volunteers are required.
BBPC hoodies, hats and other horsewear is available for purchase throughout the year.
Horse Council BC membership is mandatory for membership in the Boundary Bay Pony Club. All members must register or renew with HCBC online and provide proof of HCBC membership before your BBPC membership can be processed.
New members need both 2025 and 2026 HCBC to be registered. Anyone participating in ANY Pony Club activities (not just mounted) must hold a current HCBC licence. This is a requirement for the CPC insurance policy that protects volunteers and officials from liability. HCBC memberships will be available online early in Sep 2025 for renewals. New HCBC members will be able to get the reduced rate for the Sep to Dec portion of 2025 and the whole of 2026. It is important that new members do NOT purchase just a 2025 membership or they will be paying full price for both 2025 and 2026. There is an option for a combined prorated 2025 membership and full 2026 membership. HCBC cannot reimburse people who make a mistake and choose 2025 so they will end up paying more than necessary.
Please email a copy of your renewed HCBC membership along with your registration package to: boundarybayponyclub@gmail.com
