About Us

Boundary Bay Pony Club (BBPC) is part of Canadian Pony Club (CPC), a national non-profit organization dedicated to developing knowledgeable, responsible horse people. CPC is organized into regions across Canada, with each region made up of local branches.

BBPC belongs to the BC Lower Mainland (BCLM) Region and proudly welcomes members from Delta, Surrey, Richmond, and surrounding areas.

These values are at the heart of Pony Club. Along with developing knowledgeable and capable horse people, we encourage responsibility, teamwork, independence, good sportsmanship, and respect for horses and one another.

WHAT WE OFFER

At BBPC, members participate in structured, instructor-led equine education and stable management, along with a variety of mounted and unmounted activities throughout the year.

Opportunities may include Quiz, Rally, Prince Philip Games (PPG), Tetrathlon, clinics, testing, competitions, and other riding activities. Members can also choose to participate in our optional small-group lesson program.

Members participating in mounted activities need access to a suitable horse or pony through ownership, lease, or borrowing.

Pony Club also offers a progressive testing program based on Canadian Pony Club's national standards in horsemanship and riding. Testing gives members the opportunity to work toward new levels as their knowledge and skills develop, but participation is not mandatory.

OUR REGIONAL CONNECTION

Being part of the BCLM Region gives BBPC members access to a much larger Pony Club community. Regional activities bring together members from branches throughout the Lower

Mainland to learn, compete, try new disciplines, represent their clubs, and build friendships with other Pony Club members.

Many of the activities our members participate in, including Quiz, Rally, PPG, Tetrathlon, testing, education days, clinics, and regional championships, are organized at the regional level.

OUR PROGRAM

At Boundary Bay Pony Club, our year combines equine education, hands-on learning, mounted activities, competitions, and plenty of opportunities to spend time with other Pony Club members.

Fall | September–December

Our season begins with stable management and equine education, covering topics such as horse care, grooming, saddlery, feeding, health, safety, and more.

Mounted activities also get underway in the fall, with opportunities that may include clinics, mounted games, riding activities, and our optional small-group lesson program.

Winter | January–February

During the winter, members continue their equine education while preparing for Quiz, one of Pony Club's biggest annual events. Quiz brings members from across the BCLM Region together to test their horse knowledge in a fun team environment.

Spring | March–April

In the spring, we return our focus to stable management and testing preparation, giving members the opportunity to build their knowledge and work toward the next level of their Pony Club education.

Mounted activities continue as weather and scheduling allow.

Late Spring & Summer | May–August

The warmer months bring lots of opportunities to get out and ride. Depending on the year, members may participate in Prince Philip Games (PPG), Rally, Tetrathlon, clinics, riding tests, regional competitions, campouts, and other mounted activities.

Our optional lesson program also continues throughout the season, giving members another opportunity to ride together, develop their skills, and build friendships within the club.

Beyond the Regular Program

Throughout the year, we may also organize field trips, special clinics, guest speakers, education days, and visits to equine facilities, giving members opportunities to learn from different professionals and explore the wider horse world.

No two Pony Club years are exactly the same, and members can choose from a wide range of opportunities based on their interests and goals.
