Each fall, the BC Lower Mainland (BCLM) Region of Canadian Pony Club hosts a combined Dressage and Show Jumping Championship, typically held in September. All Pony Club members in good standing are welcome to attend and compete.
“Dressage” is a French term meaning training—and is often described as horse ballet. Its purpose is to develop a horse’s natural athletic ability, responsiveness, and willingness to perform. Within Pony Club, dressage provides the foundation for all other riding disciplines.
Show Jumping is an exciting discipline that challenges riders to guide their horses over a course of obstacles in the show ring. Pony Club members progress step by step—beginning with poles on the ground at the entry levels, and advancing up to courses with jumps as high as 1.2 metres at the top levels.
